Community Rights Town Hall

 

CAIR-MI will be hosting a Community Rights Town Hall. A number of issues effecting the rights and civil liberties of Muslims in Michigan have arisen and will be addressed at the town hall. The issues include but are not limited to, the FBI and federal law enforcement agents' involvement in coercing individuals at mosque to spy on mosque worshippers, detainment and laptop seizures at the border, and the scrutinizing of Muslim charities and their donors.

 

Topics discussed will include:

*Historical tension between civil rights groups, religious activists and the FBI
*Concerns relating to the use of informants/agent provocateurs & coercion
*Contributing Zakat to Islamic charities & chilling effect upon charitable donations
* Laptop seizures and detentions while re-entering the country
