CAIR-MI Rep Speaks To Middle School Students About Islam



(SOUTHFIELD, MI, 4/28/10) - A representative of the Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI) yesterday spoke to students about Islam at Waverly East Intermediate School in Lansing, Mich.

CAIR-MI Staff Attorney Lena Masri discussed and answered questions about basic beliefs, the role of hijab and the prohibition of intoxicants within mainstream Islam with two groups of students.

"We welcome such opportunities to recognize diversity and encourage mutual understanding among our state's student population," said CAIR-MI Staff Attorney Lena Masri.

CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
